EmPLOYMENT!!!!!!!!!?
Q. could/have you ever or could/would you ever date someone that was unemployed? Qualification: they are only 'temporarily' unemployed (think about our economy...it may happen to any one!!!) but temporary can be any where form a week to whenever...does it make you think less of that person...would you give them a chance or would you move on? i know that this is not an ideal situation to be in but you never know IF you may find youself in this situation as i add this i have trepidation...i don't need people to tell me that i haven't done what i can do (because i HAVE!!!)...this is the second time that i have found myself unemployed in the last 5 yrs now...the first was before i graduated college (14months) and now i am going on 6 months...beli [cont.]

Are the employment prospects for the field of graphic design good?
Q. Does this area offer a steady and secure career? Or is it hard to find and keep employment in this area?
Asked by BarryBadrinath - Tue Apr 29 18:15:02 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I don't see any problems...remember graphic design doesn't HAVE to be localized to where you are living now (you didn't specify "this area"). I have clients all over the US/Canada (and occasionally some abroad). If is more important that YOU are good in the field. I am an Art Director for a TV station but I've had jobs in other fields...graphic design doesn't mean agency work - you can also work as an in-house designer. I've never not been able to find work. When I was unemployed I did freelance. I am finding the Hispanic market quite lucrative.

What are the employment protection agencies are there in the Washington state?
Q. What are the employment protection agencies are there in the Washington state? I have a family member who gets abused by her boss, who fabricates false information to her boss in order to fire her. I know that there are government agencies that protect employees from this kind of abuse by meeting and talking with them and consult on how to deal with these kind of issues. I cannot find them anywhere though. Can you help me, please? Thank you in advance.

What is the general level of employment that is below waiting tables?
Q. Isn't there a single level of employment that includes such positions as busing, dish washing, sweeping parking lots, etc. I thought I heard it referred to as general utility work but I'm not sure enough to put it on an application and I am really searching for a job but probably don't have enough formal employment experience to land a job waiting tables. Thanks.
Asked by delectable - Fri Jul 11 21:24:53 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Some people go directly to waiting tables; it's in how you present yourself, your appearance, speech etc. You are asking a restaurant to let you be their representative to their customers, so you need to look neat, speak clearly and be friendly. Saying you have other experience may help, since you know something about how a restaurant works.

What are the employment figures for the legalization of marijuana?
Q. I don't understand business law and marijuana is generally illegal but is now scientifically considered a safer drug than alcohol and less addictive. Petitions and bills have been written and it looks like it might be up for legalization in a couple states. If legalized in several states, what are the repercussions against state government versus federal government? If legalized what type of employment would it bring under these circumstances? What would be a years worth of pay as a worker and and as management? Might legal troubles affect the workers such as fines?
Asked by Jeff R - Sat Jun 6 16:17:25 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Employment would consist of manufacture/growing, distribution, and sales, just like with tobacco or alcohol. The pay rates would be similar. It's just basic common sense. It's a new product, that's all. It will have the same issues as any new product at the state level.

A. Having been out of the business world for 15 years, many things may have changed. The most important factor was the experience the person was bringing to the job, and the resume which could be checked. In a few instances we hired and trained for particular jobs due to their specialization. We never looked for a credit report. That was personal and no business of the company. Where cash sales were concerned, we instituted a double check for sales and cash balancing and the manager was responsible for accuracy. He was also responsible for the deposits.

Can I cancel an employment visa in UAE which shows a different profession that I'm applying w/ no penalties?
Q. I applied as a staff nurse in UAE but in my employment visa my profession that was written is receptionist/PATIENT. I feel that this is not right, it should be as a nurse. Can I have this employment visa cancelled so I can take another employment visa with a different employer.
Asked by andrew m - Sat Sep 15 21:24:07 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. As per the UAE visa regulations an employ cannot be able to cancel the work visa issued on his/her name. Only the employer/sponsor can able to do this. In your case, if you are not interested to join with the current offer just inform them and go for the other offer. But bear in mind that your new visa application will not be approved till the existing visa has not been cancelled. I would suggest you to stick with the current offer and you can able to change/ revise your profession according to your designation in due course with your supporting certificates.

How do seasonal and temporary employment contracts work in reference to unemployment benefits?
Q. If I take a job that is listed as seasonal and am hired knowing this will I still be eligable to file for unemployment insurance when the season is over or the time has lapsed that the contracted employment was for?
Asked by CM - Sun Aug 16 20:03:56 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Although specific eligibility requirements vary from state to state, most states have the same basic standards for collecting unemployment benefits. They include: -You must be unemployed or working less than full time -You must meet certain income requirements -You must be ready, willing, and able to work -You must have involuntarily left your job In general, you won't be eligible for benefits if: -You quit your job simply because you didn't like it -You're fired for committing a crime (e.g., stealing) -You've never worked before For more information, contact your state's local employment office. You can also look in the state government section of your phone book under Unemployment Insurance, Unemployment… [cont.]

How to statistically prove or disprove pattern of employment discrimination?
Q. Suppose a US company employs 100 people, of whom 20 are officers, and the company is located in a major US city with a large racial minority population. Suppose only 1 of the 20 officers is a racial minority. How would the EEOC statistically prove a pattern of employment discrimination? How would the company statistically disprove it? Is there a good online citation for statistical calculations in employment discrimination?
Asked by fcas80 - Fri May 2 10:47:12 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It seems you would have to first prove, statistically speaking, that qualified minorities were not considered for officer positions. If the position required a business degree or some other such speciality and only 1 out of 20 minority applicants for the job had a business degree, that complicates the figures somewhat. Of course it could be argued that the employer was writing the job requirements in order to exclude certain minorities, too. Tough question

How has linking health insurance to employment had an impact on ordinary Americans?
Q. I mean besides worrying that if the company you work for goes bankrupt there goes your health insurance and the COBRA extension; Also, wouldn't it be amazing if you could work the job you *want* rather than the one that offers the best benefits. Why do we still have this system as it limits self employment, small business growth and creates "job lock"? Ever tried buying insurance independently outside of an office pool with two pre-existing conditions? Even if you cut back on absolutely everything, it's still unaffordable.
Asked by jenius - Tue Sep 15 17:38:03 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. 1) It means that most working Americans (fulltime) do have health insurance through their companies. 2) It means that most Americans have absolutely no idea as to how much their health insurance REALLY costs: about $12,500-13,000/year for family coverage. I am with you, we are on COBRA and spend 25% of our income on health insurance. next year we will be uninsurable because my husband has had prostate cancer--not exactly his fault. My feeling is we will never have universal health coverage until ALL Americans understand how much health insurance really costs by having to pay for it themselves rather than getting it at a reduced cost thru their employers.

How does an employment agency charge for its services?
Q. I am thinking about starting an employment agency and would like to know how they charge. Do they charge the person who needs an employee or the person who needs employment? How do they know if the person has been employed by the company? Do they just pay for the lead? What is the usual rate? Any info would be appreciated!
Asked by amazeme360 - Mon Jan 15 19:48:30 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The employment agency charges the customer. This means the Co looking for an employee. It charges per hour of "usage" of the employee. What happens is that the employee is an employee of the employment agency, but not of the customer. The employee is an asset of the employment agency. So, let's say you find a company that is loking for an employee.Let's say you have the perfect match. So you tell the company, and the company accepts. You charge the company $25 an hour, but you pay your employee $15 If the company decides that wants to keep the employee, you need to negotiate some paymetn from the company, because you are loosing your asset. Maybe 3 or 4 months worth of payments received if they did not keep the employee. Now, your… [cont.]

A. If someone signs a release authorization for a background check to be done that means they are releasing former employer and educational institutions from liability for releasing truthful information about your employment with them or your education with them. They can release any and all truthful information about you. They can not make up things or discuss things not involving your employment - such as "she's a really bad driver" if your job did not involve driving.

A. In today's economy people are not willing to hire, but that does not mean that every business is at a loss. Without knowing your age or location it is hard to give you perfect advice but in general if you are willing to spend some money to start your own business, a franchise is always the best decision during a recession. Decent food for reasonable prices, plus minimum wage workers and a guaranteed supplier can not be beat. A friend of mine owns a burger king, kfc, and soon checkers and he is doing great. You only need a charter from the company and a solid business plan. If you dont have the capital to start your own business there is always the option of working from a home office or pc. A. To issue an employment entry permit to the UAE usually takes 2-3 weeks if all docs are in order. When you should resign from your current job, depends on the date you are suppose to start your new position. Do you still have any leave days left? If yes, don't forget to deduct the same of the 30 days notice.
